Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14th in 1980) is an American performer, actor and dancer. Early Broadway roles included Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. As the character Essie in You Can't Take It With You she won the Tony Award. Annaleigh Ashley, Tony Award winning actor and actress, has worked with directors, actors, and other performers both on screen and stage for all of her career. Ashford will be next as a co-star with Kumail Nanjiani on the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford is currently in production on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The film will be available through Disney's DTC platforms as a Hulu Original. Ashford will return to Broadway on March 20, 2023 in which he'll be starring alongside Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production takes place at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. This production will be led by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team who produced Hamilton. Ashford appeared as Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy's American Crime Story Impeachment, inspired by the scandal which included Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp during the national crisis. Ashford appeared for two seasons in CBS popular comedy B Positive. It was produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. The show featured Linda Lavin, Hector Elizondo, as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her performance as Essie in You Can't Take It with You earned her Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Other Broadway performances include Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and her first role as Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she also received a Tony Award nomination. Ashford is a Denver origins native, and now splits her time in Los Angeles.
